Learn what a visualization meditation script is and the insane benefits it can have on your family‘s overall health and wellness. It is a gentle way to get your teenagers or child’s mind in a peaceful place so that they can focus on the here and now. A guided imagery script is great for kids, teens, and even adults who need a little more relaxation in their daily life.
Meditation sounds simple enough: sit and relax.
But for most of us, especially kids and teens, it takes a bit of practice and guidance to get to that special place of relaxation.
Daily life gets in the way of the meditation experience. The mind wanders, the cell phone dings, and we are instantly pulled away from the present moment.
That is why meditation scripts are so brilliant. They will guide you through to deep relaxation – even if you are hesitant to try this new activity.
What is a Visualization Meditation Script?
A relaxation script is a guided imaginary story that allows you to learn to quickly and easily relax.
In other words, you relax by picturing a relaxing scene, place, or image.
It’s that simple.
You can write your own visual meditation script, or find one on a podcast or YouTube.
When my oldest son is stressed, I used to try to encourage him to lay down and take deep breaths. He would instantly get annoyed when it didn’t make him feel better.
However, when my sister introduced him to a visualization meditation script, he would listen and instantly calm down.

5 Benefits of Meditation
Unfortunately, we live in a world where the anxious thoughts and panic attacks are becoming increasingly more common in our youth.
According to the NIH, an estimated 31.9% of adolescents have an anxiety disorder.
This percentage of teen and childhood anxiety is only on the rise. A study done by the National Survey of Children’s Health found that the number of children diagnosed with an anxiety disorder increased by 20% between 2007 and 2012.
This could be due to a number of factors and pressures – such as social media and trying to live up to a set of unrealistic standards. We are all feeling that a little, right?
When if comes to our child’s mental health, we want to do everything we can to help. However, many parents are not aware of how meditation can impact the wellness of a child or teen.
Studies have found these 5 amazing benefits of meditation:
- Decreased anxiety: studies have found that meditation may decrease anxiety – especially in more severe cases.
- Less depression: a review of 18 studies demonstrated that people receiving meditation therapies experienced reduced symptoms of depression.
- Better sleep: One study found that people who practiced mindfulness meditation stayed asleep longer and had less insomnia
- Improved Attention Span: this study suggested that people who regularly practiced meditation had a greater attention span.
- Self confidence: One review of 27 studies showed that meditation may lead people to believe in their own capacity or ability to overcome challenges
The power of visualization and meditation is impressive. Luckily, it couldn’t be easier to do.

How to Try a Visualization Meditation Script
While you can write your own script, I prefer listening to meditation audios (especially if you are a beginner). I stumbled about The Mindful Movement on YouTube and found it to be the perfect place for for any age group.
The audios will instruct you to close your eyes and create a mental image of what you hear. Many will talk you through a calming activity, such as a walk through a lush forest (sounds of nature often included) or gazing up at a night sky.
During the visualizations scripts follow these easy tips:
- Go to a quiet place and get in a comfortable seated position.
- Focus on the air moving in and our of your lungs when you take each deep breath
- Specifically relax your whole body – starting with your fingers and toes and moving inward
- It is okay if your mind wanders away, just re-focus on what you are listening to
- Be thankful for this feeling of peace you experience from this mind-body connection
It really is that easy!

Final Thoughts on Visualization Meditation Script
You don’t have to be an all-natural-type family to enjoy the benefits of a good guided imagery session or other visualization techniques.
Any family member, of any age, will benefit from letting go of what happened yesterday, temporarily forgetting about to-do lists, and just enjoying being who they are at this very moment.
