This pandemic crept up on all of us like a Monday sneaks up on a weekend.
We didn’t expect it. We weren’t trained for this, and most of us are overwhelmed by the number of hats we are forced to suddenly wear.
What is interesting to me, is how we are all reacting to these life changes.
So, which quarantine mom are you?
By-the-book Betty
“Betty” bought canned goods, thermal blankets, and fire starters the minute she heard the word pandemic.
She hasn’t stepped foot outside of her house since the quarantine started. When groceries are delivered she follows strict protocol to quarantine her packages, wipe them down, then bathe in lysol.
When she sees others not following the CDC guidelines, which she memorized, she debates reporting them to the authorities.
Thriving Terry
“Terry” has to admit that she is enjoying this special time to be with her family. She started playing card games with her family each night, and thinks her family needed a life slow-down.
She has been spending her extra time exercising, setting long-term goals, and bettering herself.
Hot-Mess Hannah
“Hannah” has good days and bad days.
Her good days are sponsored by wine, and well, so are her bad days. She feels like she can’t keep up with school work, home duties, and her job.
She misses social interaction, and will be a little unsteady until this is all over.
Over-it Olivia
“Olivia” is done with this quarantine. She thinks it is an overreaction, and she is vocal that it is time to get back to normal.
She stopped social-distancing, and gets angry anytime anyone refers to this as the “new normal”.
Final Thoughts
Regardless of which mom you relate more to, we are all in this together.

LOL I'm a cross between Betty and Hannah. It drives me nuts that several other families in our neighborhood are both a) grownups going out and about all the time and b) kids all playing with each other - our local stats aren't that great and we have several chronic conditions that put our family collectively at higher risk. But then again, this schooling-from-home thing is pure hell for my kid with learning differences, and trying to help her AND get my own work done AND support my husband while he's teaching remotely AND be there for my other daughter - so so so so NOT FUN.

There's a good chance that I'm a little bit of all of these moms! So funny! I'm Betty because I'm a rule follower and I'm definitely part Hannah because I have two young kids at home and I'm pregnant! I'll also admit, I'm a little bit of Olivia because I'm so desperate for more normalcy in life! This post is great and so relatable!

I'm a mix of Betty and Terry -- nothing is getting in the way of my goals and family time. My husband jokes that I genuinely enjoy this whole stay home thing --- I do.. I REALLY do!
